Hunting Gremlins: A Veteran Sound Pro Provides The View From The Stage Side
Pro Sound Web: Much pro audio industry humor revolves around techs versus musicians.
By their very nature, techs are knowledgeable problem solvers. The flip side of this nature are musicians who “don’t let knowledge get in the way” of their artistic pursuit.

This article brings up that there is an us versus them mentality in the live sound world and while that may be true and the jokes the author puts into the beginning of the article seem to make the talent seem like rock star divas which some of them may be. However I think that if those jokes are a part of the good natured banter this shows a good working relationship but this can not be good for a tour if the audio crew is at odds with the talent. I like that the engineer is himself a musician and while I do not fit into that category I would try to pickup an instrument if I had gone sound design instead of Technical Direction. It is good to have a strong musical background as an engineer and it seems though the talent should have a basic understanding of the technology or faith in the engineer.
