ACT is quite a reputable company and it is great that they send their job searches our way/that they are posted where we can see them. In Production Resource and Production Personnel Management we have had more than a few discussions about the responsibilities of the project manager, and seeing the description variations is great. We talked about typical responsibilities and how many responsibilities end up on production management location to location. Many of the responsibilities listed are what I would think of as a typical production management job (such as hiring and staffing, oversight of departmental budgets, rehearsal and production/tech schedules, and advise on capital purchases) but there was one thing that really stood out to me here, and that was that the production manager plays a role in publicity efforts. So not only is the PM at the American Conservatory Theatre responsible for creating the vision of the show, but also for getting word out to members of SCT and the public. Just very interesting to see how things vary from what we discuss in class.
