congrats to abigail on her award. it blows my my mind reading articles and recognizing the names in them like hers. its so cool being apart of an organization where connections like that are made. despite all of the articles and comments about how expensive college is and there are no jobs and everyone is miserable, i still feel like this program graduates successful graduates who are capable of going and out and accomplishing what they want to.
wow,,it really exists...this award does give people a good reason to do this job, as they mentioned in the articles that the tuition is really expensive and the investment and payment is sometime not matched that well. it still make me feel good to know that there is a lot of award like this one, is specificly prepared for backstage and design person. to be honest, sometimes i just get confused, if we backstage people always got ignored and we got the least money around the whole theater, what is the point to work in a theater. Well, it's good to know that people care about us.
I think that the purpose of this Redden Award is very good. It not only acknowledges lighting designers who came up with innovative and unique ways to make concert or play more lively, but it also encourages other designers to keep their effort. I was really surprised to see how I recognize the names and also their works mentioned in the article. I also really liked how it recognizes in several areas, concert, theatre, and corporate/special event lighting. After reading this article, I really want to attend one of Kevin Adams's show and Abigail Rosen Holmes's event. I can't imagine how gorgeous Rosen's work will be in Guggenheim Museum. I hope this program successfully continue annually, so that many of lighting designers can be recognized for their awesome works.
I love that there is an award ceremony for those who excel in the area of the arts. I personally find that anyone who can design lights well deserves recognition and many of them don't. This is a great way to give people the recognition they deserve!
