JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR and ASSOC. TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

START DATE:  Available Immediately

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

• Assist in all aspects of the planning, build, load-in, tech, and maintenance of scenery and technical needs for all productions and events at the Goodman Theatre
• Collaborate with designers and production departments to realize each production’s design on time and within budget
• Assist with the production of time and material estimates, technical drawings, schedules, and other documentation required
• Aide in the supervision of all work for build, load-in, and load-outs
• Maintain accurate inventory of materials, expendables, stock scenery, soft goods and automation equipment
• Work with Assistant Production Manager in tracking and reconciling purchases and expenses
• Assist with maintenance of the scene shop facility, tools and vehicles
• Maintain Quality and Standards of the Goodman Theatre, and assist in enforcing Goodman Theatre Health and Safety Policies
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 2 years of professional theatre experience in assistant technical direction or related field required
• Must be proficient in 3D AutoCAD drafting
• Extensive knowledge and experience in: scenery construction techniques, time and material estimating, mechanical design, automation control and stage rigging
• Ability to supervise a diverse staff, experience with IATSE crews beneficial
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to multi-task multiple projects, and be very detailed oriented
• Work as a team member and maintain a positive attitude
