Creator of August Wilson Monologue contest watches from the wings

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: For the first time since he began it, Bill Nunn will be absent when students take the stage tonight in the fourth annual August Wilson Monologue Competition. Nunn initiated the competition in 2008 as part of his Bill Nunn Theatre Outreach Project, which has a mission to give under-served public school students in the Pittsburgh region access to theater arts and opportunities to work with theater professionals. This year, Nunn had to leave the coaching and implementing to others as he recovers from surgery he had in January to remove cancer from his femur.
