I have seen concept sketches and part of the construction of Cars Land and the new front entrance of California Adventure so I was very excited to see these photos! These models really make it all real. I am so excited to see the finished updates in person! What's great about these changes being made to California Adventure Park is that they're enhancing the space and making it more accessible and desirable for the typical theme-park going family with young children. I have always found the California Adventure Park beautiful, but I do agree that it has always needed a little more Disney. Adding more Pixar-themed areas to the park seems like a smart way to keep the iconic California feeling in the park but to also incorporate more Disney so as to attract more Disney fans. On another note, these models are incredible! Talk about skilled craftsmanship!

I actually was able to see a few of these models in process while I was at WDW. And it is extremely exciting to know that soon these miniatures will soon be full sized worlds for Guests to enjoy. I competely agree with the previous statement in the comment above that the craftsmanship on this model is incredible. But who could expect anything less from Disney Imagineers. While the previous statement about the Cars land is also true, the other thing that I am so awed by is the attention to historical detail. In the models of the Buena Vista section, you can clearly see the Carthay Circle Theatre has a prominent spot in the land. This is particularly important to the Walt Disney Company, because at the time, it was the only theater that would show thier first full length animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. And this is not the only thing that they make sure in integrate into the park. There at countless little details that reference other important Disney Characters or moments, or historically accurate items, like the Carthay Circle Theater, which was torn down to make room for a parking garage.

I have always loved the detail that Disney land parks put into all of their attractions it’s this level that makes the parks so wonderful. I have always liked California adventure but it has never quite been able to match Disneyland. I think that these changes will help bring up the level. I am excited to see what cars land will look like. I am a little sad however that they are updating fantasy land only because It will no longer be the fantasy land of my childhood.

I agree with everything said above, there is a lot of exciting ideas that are that much more real because of the models and the promise that they will be constructed. I thought that each little scene was so picturesque and fun and the ideas and colors are so young and vibrant. I hope that it comes out the way that it was imagined and the way that the designer hoped it would be.
That is one thing that I love about Disney, they have imagination as a priority and the fantastical, extravagant ideas, that are meant to entertain, become a real part of the Disney park. I would think that it would be any designers dream to create worlds such as this and then to watch it spring up before your eyes. I feel like the constraints and reality is blurred in a sense and maybe it is a life experience that all designers should have.
