Dolby's New Atmos System Will Pipe 128 Channels of Audio Bliss Into Movie Theaters

Seems like movie theatres are doing a lot to attempt to pull audience members back into the cinema. With so many home entertainment and online downloading options, it is not hard to imagine that attendance has dropped in designated movie viewing locations. However, I don't think these improvements will do much for people. First of all, those of us outside of the entertainment and technology industries probably aren't even paying attention to them. So they won't go back just to hear what a new sound system does for them, or how a vibrating seat makes their experience different. As much as I'd like to believe this industry could save itself, I really think it's just digging itself into a bigger hold.
I really liked Kassondra’s comment and I made me realizes. Movie theatres are losing customers to a home theaters right? This is an interesting notion because with the proper set up, a movie experience can be closely reproduced at home. What cannot be reproduced at home”? Sporting events and live entertainment. This is why people still pay big money to go see the Steelers and Niclelback; because it is better in person. This is what we as a theatre community should be promoting. We sell the one of a kind real life human on stage Experience that can never be replaced, no matter how technology advances; it will never be able to replace live performance. We just need folks to realize that.
