Put a Little Gaga in Your Marketing Strategy (from Arts Watch)

ARTSblog: As I continually seek new information to contribute to our various electronic and print publications, I come across a ton of info that I want to pass along to the field, but they end up sitting on my desk waiting as other topics or projects rise to the top over that information.
In light of that, I thought this blog post can serve as an early spring cleaning (we definitely haven’t had a real winter in D.C. this year) of some of the marketing content I’ve been holding onto.

If I were trying to network or get a business going, I would certainly be able to use a lot of this advice. Some of this advice can be applied to our everyday lives, though, too! The fact that Lady Gaga is always in close proximity to her creative outlets (and inputs) allows her to keep a record of her thoughts and ideas no matter where she is or what she's doing. This is a great idea for anyone- to make sure you have a place to put your ideas when they come to you. It can be as simple as carrying around a notebook or jotting down a note on your computer for later. The more you keep track of your moments of inspiration, the more you can use that inspiration later. Another piece of advice in this article that seems useful for everyday life is to pay attention to what you are doing online when you're on the go! It's easy to make a decision in the moment that you will regret later for personal or professional reasons. The fact that we are thirty seconds away from sending out a passionate or angry tweet at any time is a little scary because it makes it that much easier to make a mistake that the whole world can see! This article is also great in general because it provides ways to use blogging and social networks to your advantage, while reminding its readers to use them wisely and to keep their online lives organized!

The social networking world is bizarre. The idea of creating mulplie ways for people to stumble over your name is a great idea, but a little risky. I create usually a page for every network but only list information on it that would redirect to a network I normally use. I feel like it is to risky to have a million personalities everywhere - and i dont want to be contacted somewhere I do not normally check, I would rather only have to check one central location for contacts. Mobile mistakes are easy to make, I always try to be careful to avoid them. You never know who will see what, and when so it is critical to only post what you want everyone to see.
