TheAnti-Gravity Derby involves the creation of outlandish costumes andextraordinary vehicles that are pushed, dragged, pedaled or left to freewheeldown the hill between Doherty and UC. As the anarchic alternative to the buggyraces, ostentation and imagination take precedent over speed.
This year's race isofficially part of Carnival's calendar, plus it is the centennial celebrationof the CFA building so there is some historic significance that could wellbecome hysteric. Derby leader and multi-mediaartist Pat Oleszko, 2010 Kraus Visiting Professor of Art, returns to CMU to runthe event--at a leisurely pace--into the ground.
Open to all with bigideas and no rush to get there with judges, awards, folly and good cheer.
You can be a triumphant tortoise—on a roll.
