Stage review: Playhouse Rep reveals deep truth of 'Buried Child'
Post Gazette: "What is the life cycle of a work of art? Sam Shepard's 'Buried Child,' a rare troubling prophecy heralded in its own time, won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize. I vividly remember the dark electricity of its 1980 production at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, in the era of Ben Shaktman."

This sounds like quite an interesting piece, though I've never happened upon it before. I think that this could be a really goods tep away from the happy go lucky Americana plays that seem to be in vogue now, and are a darker look (at a very appropriate time in our history, as it were) at what life really is so for many people. Growing up with a parent from the midwest, I was always taught to think positively and never reveal any darkness in yourself or the family because it simply wasn't done. To have a playwright turn Middle America into something to fear is rightfully shocking, and I would really like to see this script in action.
