Dancers' vision guides Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "In little more than a decade, the Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet has become a leader in contemporary dance. Yet, its founding executive and artistic directors had never run a company."

I really love reading about companies like this that are run by a strong artistic drive as opposed to a monetary interest. It's amazing what you can figure out when you really want to do something the way it should be done, even if you don't have experience running a business. I think that this speaks to what we all do in a very visceral way, which is that the way to make the best performance and design is to be driven by artistic passion. I'm happy to hear that this company was able to flourish and develop a great reputation that now allows cities outside of New York to see classical contemporary works that have been actually created by the original choreographers.

This is why I really enjoy the work that gets brought in by the PDC. I love the idea of being a dancer's company rather than a company of choreographers. Being more focused on the experience of the performers seems like an obvious choice, however it is rarely done. I would love to see the Twyla Tharp piece, and am glad that the company is able to continue with its work

I like how this company was started by ballerinas and they bring in the choreographers. So I agree with Alana, it is great that it is a dancers company. I really wan to learn more about ballet and designing for ballet. I am always fascinated by the articles posted having to do with ballet and I realize that it is something that I don't know very much about except the fact that I was in a ballet class when I was 4.
The way in which this particular ballet company functions is different from any other I have heard of and I think that the dancers would progress and grow so much more working with different choreographers rather than the same all the time.
