Motion picture academy honors nerds of filmmaking

I think it is great that the people responsible for all the technology and innovation are finally getting recognized. As Elizabeth Banks stated in the article,it is "a great reminder of everything that goes into the finished product we see in movie theaters." Most people don't realize what these professionals do...most don't even realize they exist. Although, I wonder why they decide to do this in private instead of having it in a public setting, like all of the other awards. I think that if it were done that the public could watch, it would create much more awareness for this type of profession, and give the award winners the recognition they deserve.
