Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "When it began, Pammie O'Bannon had no idea how long 'Menopause' would last.
'This will be the 10th year, next March. I thought it was cute,' O'Bannon says. 'But I really didn't know it would last this long.'
O'Bannon is referring to 'Menopause the Musical,' for which she created the role of Earth Mother in the original production that debuted in 2001 in Orlando, Fla.
The show begins a repeat visit to the Byham Theater on Tuesday as a guest attraction of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust."

Based off of the title, I've always been a little wary of this show. It's just a very blunt title, kind of screams 'Here I am!'. It definitely catches your attention. I think that the story is very interesting, it definitely caters to a specific audience. What this musical actually reminds me of is a new TV show that TNT (? maybe...could be USA) has been advertising, Men of a Certain Age. We are starting to see work that is being written catered to an age group that isn't usually specifically targeted. It's definitely something that I would like to see developed. What would be interesting is how writers could cater to that "middle aged group" and how they would adapt comedies to fit the humor of that group. And would targeted dramas change in structure at all, or just the content? I'm not sure, just thoughts.
Speaking of targeting specific ages, and jumping off of what Liz said. I just saw "It's Complicated" and the story of the whole movie is really centered around the older generations, but then they throw in humor for more of my generation. It was definitely interesting having to explain parts where I laughed that my mom and grandmother didn't get. :p
Funny you mention seeing that movie with your mother and grandmother as well. There were definitely moments that I laughed when my mom and grandmother didn't. I also noticed that I liked the movie a lot more than my grandmother, and slightly more than my mom. It may have just been personal preference of the movie, but I found it interesting.
