Point Park University's dance program took the right steps

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Success can be measured many ways, but its aura is unmistakable.
Point Park University's dance program, part of its Conservatory of the Performing Arts, has achieved national renown for the quality of its graduates. They often return to Pittsburgh as part of touring ballet companies, such as Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and Hubbard Street Dance, as well as Broadway musical theater shows like the Rockettes."

This article was very informative. Since getting to CMU I have only heard pretty biased things about Point Park. It’s nice to hear about the school from an unbiased source. I didn't know much about their program, nor did I know what their students went on to do. I agree with their "break you down and build you back up" theory of teaching. I'm glad they teach form first so they make sure that their students aren't going to injure themselves. I also think that it was a smart move to add a jazz major on to the ballet/modern majors. It's true that not everyone can be in a ballet company and it is much more realistic to assume that at some point someone is going to be performing on a cruise ship and to make sure they are prepared for that job.
