Laserkerf II: A Better Miter Saw Guide

Toolmonger: "We’ve posted about add-on miter saw lasers that only show you one side of the blade. Usually, if they’re off, they don’t offer any way to adjust the beam and can even cause the blade to wobble. The blade also has to be spinning to activate the laser, and the blade guard blocks the beam until you start lowering the saw. By mounting the Laserkerf II to the saw and not the arbor, you can eliminate all these problems."

This seems like a good improvement on the existing technology. I've always wondered how usefull these are. It seems like the angle of the beam would change substantially as you cut.

Great, not lets just get one and not break it. We have one floating around somewhere downstairs in the shop, but we never have put it on. The one that came on our saw last week was way off, especially when the blade bent.

That's cool. I can see many many times that I would like something like this. Then I think about how easy it is to bring the wood up the the blade and just see if I'm on the line or not. I'd have to try this out to see if I like it.
