'Spamalot' delivers silliness, puns, bawdy jokes and chorines

Post Gazette: "The souvenir pedlars are back with their coconuts, killer rabbits and Spam, which can only mean it's time to look on the bright side of life with 'Monty Python's Spamalot.'
When better than Thanksgiving week for a musical that raises clever British silliness to the zenith? In fact, whenever would that not be welcome? Granted, Monty Python is a taste that escapes some, but 'Spamalot' -- based on their first feature film, 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' -- could just as well be called The Pythons Do Vegas, so cheerfully has the mother country sold out to American brashness and leggy showgirls."

I can't determine who the target audience was for this show. It obviously wants to bring in theatre audiences who don't watch monty python, but at the same time they wanted to keep somewhere close to the orignal intent of the movie. Yet, when I saw the show only theatre audiences seemed to enjoy it. All the Monty Python fans, which was 75% of the audience, laughed but left disappointed. The majority comment I heard was that the wit was "dumbed down" and it sold out for quick laughs.

Like Nicole said, this show was pretty confusing. It combines really stupid, lowbrow wit and theater humor, with the original Monty Python humor. Although parts of it are funny, I did think it was dumbed down and in some parts, just offensive.

as long as people can identify that this show is meant tobe run off of cheap laughs, puns and fart jokes, why would someone go see it to be completely and emotionally changed as a person? It is a funny show and it is meant to be just that a funny show... nothing more, nothing less! It is really sad that it is closing soon.. I was dissappointed just because it is so funny!
