It would be weird to see a lift powered by a cordless drill, and a little worrying. Hopefully theirs hand powered way to lower yourself when your drill battery dies. Though a small lift would be nice not having to deal with huge outriggers.
Basically, they are temporary structures in construction. They are either fixed on the ground or hoarded on a purpose-built vehicle. platform hires come in different types such as jib, gantry, ship and deck, bridge or overhead, boom, tower, and mobile or truck.
This is a great innovation and much safer than ladders, but I just don't think it will catch on. It's bigger, heavier, harder to assemble, requires a power source, and is slow moving. Safety is always a concern in every industry, but at what point do we let safety keep the work from getting done. I'm not saying that we should do stupid and unsafe things but people have been using ladders for quite some time now, and I don't expect people to readily give up what has worked for so long. I think we're a ways off from allowing our ladders to be so easily replaced.
and lets replace every staircase with escalators too
i think this would be better if it were bigger and could hold more than one person, or if it were designed to lift tools/equipment rather than people alone. i've often found ladders and personnel lifts 'unsafe' because of the excess gear i've had to hold on to at the same time.
Nothing will replace the flexibility and simplicity of the ladder, which this is not trying to do. THis is an interesting solution to the need for ladders. Sometimes ladders are much quicker and easier to handle to get where you need them. For something like working on a platform, it is much easier to get a ladder in place instead of a lift. Practicality will win over the cool factor in this case.
