Gemini Theater gives 'Sleeping Beauty' a wake-up call
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "The Gemini Theater's version of the classic 'Sleeping Beauty' fairy tale adds several twists, like goofy character names, and a plot that takes the maiden on a funky, futuristic vacation from her long nap."

This sounds like it could be a really interesting, fun piece. Because it is a children's piece, I think that the playfulness and imaginative aspects of the plot will be brought to life. This sounds like a really cute show!
I think this piece goes along well with the other shows in the season. Each of the stories seem to compliment eachother, and the fact that this 'Sleeping Beauty' has a twist added to it only seems to make it more interesting.
I suppose this is better than the 40 billionth performance of Christmas Carol. I'm still a little dubious about the artistic value of Christmas shows, but it sounds like Gemini theater is doing something different, which is good.
I think this is a cute idea. I do support the revisioning of classic children's fairytales, however I would like to see more original fairytales being created.
Look at the recent films like:
Shrek
Enchanted
Into the Hood
All of these films spoof the original fairytales rather than inventing new ones.
