I want one. I had now idea that any of the iron men where real and not CGI. I'm going to finish this comment and read up on that controller, i'm interested in how that thing works.

This article was like reading a parts list. It didn’t describe the motion the effect was trying to achieve or give any mechanical principals behind the effect. It did however tell me what servo motors and hydraulic valves they used. I would have much rather heard what the design challenges were and how they overcame them then valve catalog numbers.

I am with Chase on this one, I thought all of the fights in Iron Man were CG. I'm really impressed by the ability of the guys who built this thing to make the suit move so smoothly. I would be interested in seeing what other applications this "gimbal" thing has other then moving the suit. What I'm confused on is if the gimbal is the chip like thing they showed, or a anagrammatic system of some kind.

That's amazing! I always wondered if the Iron Man suits actually existed or if it was just *green screen magic*. This interests me in the vein of costuming, specifically. The designs for the Iron Man suit become the responsibility of the CGI department and production designer instead of the costume designer. I'm glad the suits actually exist though! It show how far comp animation has come so that I couldn't tell them apart.
