Carnegie Mellon alum turns novel into opera
The Tartan Online: "When enthusiastic former Carnegie Mellon student Ricky Ian Gordon came to speak here two weeks ago, he described his fear when commissioned to compose an opera based on John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath."

it sounds really great. the grape of wrath is just an epic to start with. and to top that with turning into an opera seems like an appropriate version. i can't imagine the 60-member cast and the making of the entire sky out of projection. break a leg, everyone.
I think that whenever you turn an "epic" novel into another form, you're always jumping out on a limb. You never know if it will be a success, or if it might not shine as well. From what the article talks about this performance sounds like it is going to be amazing. The description of the music sounds beautiful, good luck!
