With war live from Iraq still raging, the Army brings its live stage show Spirit of America to town.

Pittsburgh City Paper: "'War is hell.' A sentiment voiced in the distant past resonates into the immediate present, and most likely will echo until the human race is extinguished. It's declared by foot soldiers and armchair generals, expounded upon by poets and philosophers, communicated by artists, and lamented by childless parents and orphaned children. It doesn't surprise."

There are some shows performed by the disabled, the aged, and the kids etc. But this is probably the first time that the soldiers who have ever been and who will go to war perform their own experience. This is really “news”!
The real war is unlike what is presented in the film. We will never know how awful it is unless we are actually in there. Like going up with Genie to the height of the batten and working in the air, we would never know how tremble it is unless we have been up there. The actors can work hard to act the war scene. However, the scenes interpreted by the soldier of having actual experience may be more real.

It's too bad this show didn't run for a little longer in Pittsburgh. I still can't believe that the Army actually okay'd a show about the Army. I wonder if the show was really all about the experiences the various members of the troop had, or if there are a lot of things missing that down show the Army in as good of a light. It's also always interesting to know that the actor's arent really acting, just retelling stories from the past. I wonder who the audience thinks is more real the actor or the soldier.
