Monks go musical in latest Flatwoods production

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "The monks of St. Bernard's monastery are having one devil of a time dealing with a major dilemma. A real-estate developer is about to turn their monastery into a gambling hall, and it's going to take a miracle to save it."

It's kind of funny to think about the Catholic Church in Florida trying to stop a play from being done by a school, when there are shows like this one that incorporate singing and dancing monks. They're not offended by this? Or is it more of a stance that they can control children who have religion forced on them, not adults who choose to participate in organized religion. Although maybe the church learned its lesson that it is not all powerful. The Vatican on the other hand people would probably listen to. Guess what people, the only one that is really listened to is the Pope. Sorry.

i agree that it is a bit contradictory, but i think the reason the church had a problem with the school play in Florida was because of the content and themes of the show they were putting on. i don't think it's the singing and dancing they have a problem with.

This reminds me of the article about the musical about the town which got flooded. sometimes you just have to let go and make fun of the most uptight people there are. and i happen to think of monks as uptight people. everything can be funny. i just hope this production is tasteful enough to not offend too many people. i think the idea is wonderful. i would love to see it.
