Nightmare: Ghost Stories - Haunted House
New York Times: "As Timothy Haskell strolled through the labyrinthine byways of a partly constructed haunted house on the Lower East Side, explaining in graphic detail how each room will be designed, a devilish grin kept popping up on his face. He loves to scare people."

i wonder if they will incorporate american's number one fear, the fear of falling.?
To me this shows that designers are wanted for all different projects. Not just for designing stages for theatre or even movies or tv, but for haunted houses. Not something that one would go out into the world thinking that they would do as a paying a job. It gives an interesting aspect to how designers talents can be perfect for different projects.
what is particularly interesting about this article is their incorporation of real people's fears. In the last few haunted houses i have been to there was a room of the scary doctor, or of people eating brains. To get something new out of it would be fascinating.
In addition, the design challenge would have to be immense to get realistic violence or blood plus getting the actors in and out of the house without the patrons seeing.
When I worked on haunted houses, we designed rooms by incorporating the fears of the people who worked in the haunted house. The idea was, if this will scare us, it should scare someone who has no idea whats going on.
