'Cirque Dreams' brings jungle to life

Tennessean.com: "Neil Goldberg has seen a lot of astounding feats in his time as artistic director of Cirque Productions. But none quite took him the way an elderly woman did approaching him after a show. She held, in her hand, the arm of the chair in which she had been sitting. 'She said, 'I am so exhausted,' ' he recalls. ' 'I was so excited through the whole show that I just broke the chair.' So I went to the manager and said, 'Here's a first. What do I do with this?' '"

perfect! or course cirque would pull out the stops and be abel to be so influential and so inspirational and so draining. typical. cirque is one of the reasons that theater and live performance are still around, its unbelievable, they tackle design feat after feat not to mention the way their performers are made to perform.. its truly one of those amazing things to witness and i think it catches people because they are unaware of the fact that the live performance arts can still offer such a strong visual show and emotional insight.

I've gone to see a few circque (i dont know what kind) productions and they are really like a feast for all your senses. you can even taste the feeling in the air. and one of my favorite things to do is look around the room and see the kids staring with their mouths wide open in utter shock. its the craziest thing. its so beautiful. i've never broken a chair but ive broken many a fingernail clutching on to an armrest. the other interesting thing i find is how cirque skirts the line between theatricality and cinemacality. its grand and overpowering like cinemacality but it still works on a stage in front of you. i think thats part of the reason its so exciting.

huh? this has nothing to do with cirque du soleil...

"Cirque Productions is not affiliated with the grand-scale Cirque du Soleil shows ... Instead, "cirque" refers to the circus genre, complete with strong men, balancers, comedic actors, live music and more."

While i appreciate their innovation and ideas, i feel that this company is merely using the name and design ideas to make a profit off an existing theatrical giant, confusing audience members along the way...

I am very curious about more of the differences between 'Cirque Productions' and 'Cirque du Soleil.' I personally have only been exposed to the Cirque du Soleil productions and I am always amazed by the intensity and quality of the productions. The photographs from the Crique Productions look amazing, and I'm very interested about their claim of being more intimate and accessible.

Yeah, I had no idea which they were referring to. But either way the pictures just make me curious and jealous that I am not watching right this moment. That's what bright colors and flashy costumes can do for ya! However, I don't have that strong of an opinion about it either way. They may be confusing audience members, but a lot of things are about that sort of manipulation these days....as sad as it is.
