I think in acting point of view, these Disney characters are very difficult to play. Becuase the audience's expectation of the character is so rigid, they would not tolerate anything that is different from what they know of the character. You can't be experimental with the character, or there's no other interpretation of the character in the text, not to mention the physical similarities that the actors must have.
Although it is hard for the audience to accept these characters portrayed in different ways, I feel like the characters in "Beast" are so one-dimensional that most actors will choose to portray them this way. Belle has to be portrayed as a strong, individual woman, and each of the enchanted objects need to represent the characters that they've been transformed into. The script itself doesn't exactly ask for much creativity.
