Las Vegas out-glitzing Broadway
San Jose Mercury News: "As the $5 million, three-tiered chandelier crashed down from the ceiling of 'Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular' to what seemed like just inches above this theater critic's head (very Steven Spielberg!), I had an epiphany about the nature of theater in Sin City. It's all about the eye-candy. Gulp."

i was fortunate enough to see ka in las vegas. i agree that all of those spectacular elements exist, but it was very hard to see any of them because of the huge size of the stage/pit. as opposed to other cirque shows where the action is all around you and in your face, everything felt a mile away, no matter how big or impressive it was. this gave it much more of a las vegas spectacular feel, instead of the more universal circus feeling that other cirque shows maintain.
