Don Mayo and Nora Blackall Reach for the Heavens in NYMF's 'Last Starfighter'
Yahoo! News: "The NYMF run will feature young actor Binstock (seen in North Shore's High School Musical, Shakespeare Theatre's Titus Andronicus in DC) as the teen-age California video game wizard, Alex Rogan, who is enlisted by Kolinski (Titanic, Les Miz, A Christmas Carol), as alien Centauri, the role played by Robert Preston in the 1984 film. Alex is such a high scorer on the video game in the trailer park he helps manage that he's recruited by Centauri for space duty."

I have never really seen a science fiction style musical, and I am very curious about the result. There are such opportunities for design concepts to be wild and crazy. The demand for special effects nowadays must be greater than ever seeing as audience members are probably expecting something grand enough to compare with movie effects. Science fiction already has a reputation for outlandish plot devices, it must be hard to draw an audience. the response to such a show will be interesting to follow.
