Robert Falls: One extraordinary year

Chicago Tribune: "Robert Falls' 20th year at the Goodman Theatre was marked by a glossy coffee-table book, a huge party, laudatory declarations from a cornucopia of colleagues and a veritable array of media profiles. That's no surprise -- anniversaries are marketing opportunities and a good way to please the boss. And Falls -- who has a healthy ego in need of frequent nourishment -- runs the richest and most prominent theater company in the Midwest. But Falls is one of our Chicagoans of the year in the arts not as a nod to his status or longevity but as a tribute to his year of extraordinary directing work."
