I really find it dissrespectful that Theaters are now allowing food/drink into the shows. Considering how much of a distraction that is for the cast and the other audience members, it breaks down the whole environment of the theatre. One other thing that I find utterly inappropriate is the use of a camera. I was ushering for Alcina on Saturday night and about 20 min. into the show, and stage hand came out to the box office and explained that there was a person in the right section of the audience that was taking pictures with a flash. I then had to go out into the house during the show and watch for a flash to go off. I was expecting the person to be near the aisle of the right of the house. I was standing there for a good 5 min. before I say a camera turn on, and then the flash go off. Unfortunately, the person was about 8 seats in to the MIDDLE section of the house. So I am trying to kneel down in the aisle and whisper across the laps of 8 people to tell a boy no older than FIFTEEN to stop taking pictures!!!!!!!! AND HIS MOTHER WAS SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just find disturbances like food and cameras to be very dissrespectful.
