We actually talked about things like this in Basic PTM with Joe as part of the "meta skills" section. It helps to know things like conditioning yourself to drink warm liquids before bed so you'll have a constant sleeping aid and reducing noise as well. I find that the pillow comment helps a lot for me since I get cramps in my neck and back very easily when I sleep the wrong way. I think that the biggest problem while living in a dorm or small apartment is that there isn't enough personal space for "work" so people end up doing a lot of things in bed which contributes to the sleeping problem.
