I agree that revival of the Dreamgirls is a bit early. First of all, the Oscar hasn't been awarded. Second, the DVD hasn't been released. And the casting... I think Beyonce should run the show for at least couple of months. Obviously, she has been interested and working in film which not necessarily reflected her acting skills. If she wants to grow up to be an actor, not a singer who is acted as a singer in a movie (like she did in Pink Panther), she has to face Broadway first. Of course, for the producers, Beyonce sells the tickets... so they should really try to cast her.
When I saw Dreamgirls the movie I left the theatre and immediately turned to my friend and said so when( not if) they do the Broadway revival, who do you think will be in it, Beyonce or Jennifer Hudson. I still have that same question on my mind because I think it would be amazing if Jennifer Hudson was in the Broadway version of the show but there is some sneaking suspicion that Beyonce will be in it, however, I don't believe that they both will do it. And here is the other question which comes to my mind. If the revival is done will the newly written songs and changes for the movie be included in the script for the broadway show and how will that add or take away from the show itself in both terms of the audience and profit it brings in and the integrity/quality of the show?
