Christmas at Dolly Parton's Stampede Is A Well Oiled Machine

Theme Park University: After visiting dozens of dinner shows over the years, I can definitively say nothing tops Dolly Parton’s Stampede. Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee just down the street from Dollywood, I recently got a chance to see their Christmas show and can’t say enough good things about it. However, it’s probably not for the reasons you may think.

I love Dolly Parton, I love Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, and I love Christmas. We actually went to Pigeon Forge as a family last year the week of Christmas Day. While we did not go to her Stampede, we did go to Dollywood which is arguably even more her child then the theatre shows. She was actually in the park the week we were there. And just like the shows, the park is also a well oiled machine during Christmas, and it was just as magical as Disney during Christmas. But back to dinner theatre type venues, they always collect in big tourist-y areas like Pigeon Forge, Branson, Myrtle Beach, etc. I have never been to one, but they seem both corny and increasingly dated. I usually think they have bad food and annoying shows, but clearly Dolly’s shows are not that. I have seen videos of her Pirate Show and it is impressive how many mediums and special effects that show uses to create a mystical pirate environment.
