Despite Nor'Easter, Broadway Flea Market Raised Nearly $1.5 Million

Playbill: A nor'easter didn't prevent thousands of Broadway fans from adding to their theatre collections September 27: The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction, which moved indoors to the Hammerstein Ballroom, brought in $1,487,927 (comparable to its 2025 record-breaking total of $1.63 million).

The Broadway Flea is such an incredible event for both raising money and giving theatergoers a chance to own some of the things from past and current productions. I have personally never been, but I have always wanted to go. It seems like it would be incredibly overwhelming, but I would love to see old props and playbills from shows that were on Broadway even before I was born. It is impressive that, even with the giant storm, the market made almost as much as it did last year. I can not imagine how crowded it must have been in the Hammerstein Ballroom trying to fit all 63 tables inside, much less the crowds of people. I like that the Flea was also selling experiences like meet and greets with actors. That is a great way for people to have a lifelong memory of something special and unique while also raising thousands of dollars for Broadway Cares.

I am so pleased to see that this managed to secure such a huge sum of money despite the gross conditions! The idea is that all this shows what the theater community is genuinely made of, showing how committed people are to supporting each other with these types of events. Ive always wanted to go to Broadway but ive always been away at school or busy, probably working on a show when the time comes. One day! Flea markets totally rely on foot traffic and people's willingness to stay outdoors and examine the tables, so a storm is just an example of a direct threat to the a beloved tradition, but reaching the number anyways shows either that the audience has a crazy amount of loyal supporters or that they planned everything very well when it comes to weather conditions. I am also convinced that this type of event matters more than the amount of money collected as at its core it’s a way for people to connect!
