Review: Quantum Theatre's '10 Out of 12' Experience Is an Unconventional Love Letter to Theatermakers

onstagepittsburgh.com: Tech rehearsal in theater is the crew’s time to sync to a show’s rhythms and iron out the wrinkles that develop with hundreds of light and sound cues, entrances and exits, performers hitting their marks, wardrobe and set changes ,,, it’s where it all comes together. Or it doesn’t. No matter. The show must go on.

This show sounds like Noises Off or The Play That Goes Wrong, and I'm curious how it compares to these. It sounds like a pretty fun and unique show. I have never been in the Mellon Institute so I'm not sure how the space is set up, but I'm curious to see what it looks like. Maybe it's just a normal auditorium, but I was surprised to hear that they were doing this show here. I think the idea of giving all the audience headphones to feel like they're on headset is really unique and would probably be a pretty fun way to interact with the show. I also like the idea of giving people some sort of glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes. Not a lot of people can truly understand/appreciate what's happening backstage while a show is running. I love that we have so many CMU people involved with this show. I'm not sure when it closes but I hope I get to see it before it does.

I just love all the reviews for the show because of my friends and professors who are acting and working on the show. I didn't know that this was sort of immersive in the sense that audience members wear headsets so they can hear the conversations that are being heard on stage through headsets. I haven't gotten to see this show yet, but the visual elements of the show, like the costume design and scenic design, look fantastic. I also think the content of the show just calls for it to be very funny, and I definitely think this is a piece of theater that I would really love to see. This play is also a show about a show, with so many layers to the comprehension of understanding who plays who within the show, if that makes sense, which would definitely confuse me a little bit. Nonetheless, I'm very proud of my friends, peers, and professors who are involved with this piece, and I would love to see it.
