www.ticketnews.com: The Tokyo-based financial services company SBI Holdings is reportedly in negotiations with MSG Entertainment for a “collaboration,” Nikkei reports. There are only two places on this planet that I could imagine a sphere being built and not question it for a single second : Tokyo and Las Vegas. The Sphere takes entertainment both live and prerecorded to a whole new level that makes it seem as if we are truly living in the future. Architecture is generally eye catching if it limits the amount of straight lines as that is what is most common in many of our materials. The sphere took it one step further and made a completely round building and then covered it in LEDs to make it a living breathing part of the city. Planes will fly over the sphere and have a form of interaction with the building as it becomes a giant emoji laughing and smiling at onlookers. Tokyo is also known for its other worldly technology and innovation along with its deep connection to media and virtual concerts. A sphere seems like a perfect fit.
It’s interesting to see the sphere potentially expanding to Japan. I’ve been wanting to learn Japanese and overall get myself acquainted with customs and how the entertainment and theater technology spaces work over three since it seems like the industry is also pretty big there. Seeing the sphere potentially moving over there as well sort of highlights this and honestly I think it has the potential to be very cool as long as its built in a plce that diesn’t disturb people of nature too much. The man-made islands seems like the place to go, but who knows if they’ll follow through? I also understand why people would be against the construction of another sphere and to be honest I’m a bit conflicted over it all since I also think its unnecessary? Overall I’ll be keeping a close eye on this, I want to see where they finally decide to go with this project and whether or not the sphere will turn up in Japan or not.
