Paddington: The Musical review – they’ve looked after this bear quite splendiferously
Musicals | The Guardian: Here is the Peruvian bear as we have never seen him before – or so we are led to believe from the marketing of this musical, which is based on the beloved 2014 film, based on Michael Bond’s beloved books.

The puppetry for Paddington is INSANE. The level of emotion that the animatronic’s facial movements, combined with the actor inside the costume’s bodily movements, is truly out of this world. I remember reading an article about how they decided to make the remote puppeteer/voice actor of Paddington the person who controlled the facial expressions. It was really interesting, but basically they realized that the person who was saying the lines was the person best suited to making the face look it, as it otherwise would lag or look disconnected. I think it’s little details like this that show how the creative minds behind Paddington are truly trying to make the best out of this concept, not just developing something that could have been a quick and easy cash grab. I think that the main reason why this show has been so successful and so well-received is because you can tell that the people who made it liked the source material and didn’t just see it as a cash cow.
