The Best Bay Area Theater We Saw in 2025
KQED: During a spate of theater closures, funding challenges and diminished audiences, there’s been no shortage of ideas from the Bay Area’s top theater brass as to how Bay Area theater can survive. There were also plenty of victories to be had on our region’s stages in 2025.

As a person from and who grew up in the Bay Area, the Bay Area is where I was first introduced to theater and where I learned to love theater and getting to see a list of the “Best Bay Area Theater.” I was so excited to see what places I have been to and what they are doing after I have moved to PA for school! I am absolutely shocked that out of all of these shows and companies, I have only attended one show at any of these companies. I am amazed at how many theaters are hidden within the Bay. It was very exciting for me to see the pictures of the shows; they all look incredible, and the sets look out of this world. I especially liked seeing the pictures of the cast because I actually recognized one of the Bay Area actors, as I have seen them in many shows around the Bay!
