Is There Really A Difference Between A Mechanic Tool Set And A Home Kit?

www.slashgear.com: At a glance, a mechanic tool set and a home kit might seem similar, as both contain ratchets, sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers. A closer look, however, would reveal some differences. A mechanic's tool set is often geared towards mechanical work, such as car repairs and engine maintenance. A home kit, on the other hand, is typically used for everyday, around-the-house jobs like repairing furniture and erecting frames.

I think one of the things I enjoy most about working in theater is the huge range of tools we have to use. There's no one set of tools that we use, but at the same time we use so many tools from different industries. For example, an auto mechanics toolkit probably won't have staple guns or tape measures, but a carpenter's toolkit probably doesn't have sockets and wrenches. In our tool room comma we have tools that are used by mechanics, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, metalworkers, and so many more trades. In my opinion, regardless of whether or not you're working in theater, it's better to buy your tools piece by piece anyways. Some brands make certain tools better than others, and there are always going to be tools you use less, so you don't want to spend as much money on them. In my opinion, the only tool brand that you want to be consistent with is your battery tools, so that all your batteries are interchangeable.
