It saddens me when I open up one of these articles claiming to have tips about your tools, only to find out that it's just an instruction manual on how to use that tool, and usually one that seems fairly common sense. Thank you for letting me know that the hook shaped end of my tape measure can be used to hook on to things. I found that to be enlightening. I am mostly bothered because you have to wonder who the author was trying to target with this article? If someone needs to know how to use a tape measure, this would be great for helping them learn, if it was titled "How to use your household tape measure". And why not at least add one or two actual tips? Like using the slot in the hook to turn your tape measure into a makeshift compass? Or looking to see if your tape measure is marked with how wide the actual body is, to get an easier reading on corners? Of course, there's also my personal favorite tape measure trick of making three folds in order to make a mock violin so you may perform a beautiful tape measure solo concert.
