The wildfires across California have been absolutely devastating to so many people, and I've noticed that it's always within moments of such destruction that you see how insane peoples priorities are. I think continuing Hollywood production immediately after the fires have moved away from hollywood while the weather forecast shows future fire prone weather is honestly laughable. It's ridiculous how dangerous this is, these fires have spread so much quicker than before and people are still willing to put their whole crew in danger. I understand that precautions are in place for shooting, but I would be absolutely freaked out if I was on the crew of any of these shows. This leads to a bigger issue I've noticed with the media coverage and the public's response: while aspects of these fires are unforeseen, I'm noticing so much more care and urgency about them now that the fires are affecting hollywood. Which is honestly a valid concern, but now that more wealthy people and celebrities are being affected by the fires, more people seem to care which puts a bad taste in my mouth.

It surprised me to see that a lot of Hollywood productions have already restarted filming and going back into production. I wonder what this effect on cast, crew, and staff members who were affected by these fires were. On one hand, I get why they resumed production so quickly because at the end of the day, the industry is a business and the days that they are not filming or on production are days that they lose money. I feel like “the show must go on” attitude is a big factor in the entertainment industry’s work ethic and mindset when it comes to overcoming hardships and problems. I feel like in a regular industry, when one person or a couple people are missing, the machine still functions but with the entertainment industry, if one person is missing, everything falls apart so in that sense, restarting filming after the fires would be all in or nothing.
