The Company’s highly theatrical and acrobatic touring performances, known around the world for their dramatic creativity, imaginative storylines and audience engagement, are also recognised for their no-compromise production values from sound and lighting, to costumes and stagecraft. In March of 2020, Cirque’s touring operations were brought to an abrupt halt with the onset of the pandemic.

Cirque du Soleil is actually what got me into theatre; or at least what solidified the idea in my head. I mean, ever since I witnessed Cirque’s resident production of “O” in Las Vegas I (as the article make sure to note) I was in complete and utter admiration. Not only is it a beautiful show, but the engineering behind it is quite literally incredible– crazy to think theatre people engineer structures that big and intricate! Cirque productions have always been at the forefront of technological advancements– utilizing technologies not even designed for the entertainment business. Thus, reading about new wireless microphone systems making their way into Cirque’s newest productions is not only amusing but exciting. Especially considering this company, as like many others, was forced to go dark for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic (at least for the first wave), and I am sure we can expect great things from Cirque’s creative design team.
