Hawkeye TV: Rogers Musical Composers Discuss Fan Reactions
gizmodo.com: Composer and lyricist Marc Shaiman is unquestionably talented. Over his long career, he helped create John Waters’ long-running musical Hairspray, scored films like Sleepless in Seattle and Mary Poppins Returns, and has won a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony for his work (meaning he only needs an Oscar to complete his EGOT, and he’s been nominated for one seven times).

I loved that scene in Hawkeye. I thought it was a funny satirical piece that was pretty catchy. I did watch the series with someone who is not a theatre person and honestly, that kind of campy song is how most other people view all theatre. In addition, I find my favorite part of any marvel movie is when the characters aren’t taking themselves too seriously. The plot can get so stale when all of the characters are serious all the time, comedy, especially when it's undercut by the reality of their dangerous situation, is truly the best medicine to keep an audience attached to what is happening on screen. I would also argue that it helps fans develop a deeper relationship with their favorite characters. This is a win for everyone because fans get to have awesome characters and the franchise will make so much money because of how much money people are willing to spend to have every single piece of merchandise their character has to offer. And I know they would make a bunch of money if they expanded upon Rogers; The Musical, just saying Disney.
