“Think Cirque meets rock show meets video Installation meets theater meets stunt show meets Cirque again!” is a sentence that instills equal fear and excitement in a designer. R.U.N is clearly a mammoth project, with the added challenge of the lights needing to be low heat for the sake of the performers, and a video element that poses even more lighting challenges. This plot needed to meet a lot of unique requirements, hence it’s unique equipment list. It’s very clear that flexibility was key for this production, as the instruments chosen are all many attribute lights with maximum ability to move and change, that could serve many purposes over the course of the show. At first glance, this plot is huge, complicated, and unconventional in more ways than one. When you look deeper, it’s still all of these things, but it’s also an impressive solution to a colossal task.
