Who Does The Dishes On Top Chef?

www.gawker.com: Certain questions have haunted the human spirit since time immemorial; for Martin Heidegger, during his philosophy lecture course at the University of Freiburg in 1935, it was the classic, “Warum ist überhaupt Seiendes und nicht vielmehr Nichts?” For me, a blogger who gets assignments, it is: Who does the dishes on Top Chef?

I think about stuff like this on cooking shows ALL THE TIME. A pandemic obsession of mine has been Hell’s Kitchen. Gordon Ramsey kicks teams out of the kitchen in the middle of dinner SO often, and I always wonder who is actually finishing all the plates they did not cook? Who cleans it all up? Is there a secret backup kitchen in the studio that established chefs and other kitchen staff work in? But dishes!! There are SO many of them! Different styles too! All for different purposes! Where do they go to be washed?? I love that the majority of the producers the author spoke to were not inclined to reveal the secret. I do think it is funny that dish “ninjas” are swooping in to collect dishes and utensils without being spotted on camera. It is NOT funny that PAs were being asked to work unethical hours in order to foot the dishwashing need on sets, and that production companies took advantage of un-unionized employees. That is truly a shame and I hope things have changed since.
