At first upon reading, I thought all of the regulations put in place might be a little extreme but I think that the options provided are quite generous. Allowing folks who are not vaccinated to present a negative test, instead of a vaccine card, makes it so those with health issues (that are advised to not get the vaccine) are not discriminated against or left out of the community. If all of these regulations make it so that theaters can present at full capacity then I believe that regulations like these must happen so the performing arts community can get back on their feet and the job market can open up. I do hope, however, that an increase of steps to be taken to attend live performances does not make it so that audiences don’t show up. I’ll be interested to see what other big theatre hubs do as the fall and winter season approaches.

I think this mandate is a step in the right direction for covid safety and should start to be implemented in theatre communities across the U.S. It benefits the audience by decreasing the chance of contracting covid and therefore decreasing the need for contact tracing as well. These measures are already in place for most airports engaging in international travel due to the close intermingling of people. It's not an extreme request to ask of people. The Cincinnati Arts Organizations working together to create consistent covid restrictions was also a smart move to present as a united front. As Madison said, the worry that the more intense restrictions will affect people's willingness to attend is a risk. But insisting that the rules are the same across the city eliminates the possibility of upset individuals boycotting a single theater for their restrictions. This mandate will also greatly benefit the theaters who are now able to sell a full house of tickets
(rather than a socially distanced space) and therefore financially recover faster. For an overall return of the arts this will be a big help.
