Concert venues are banking on proof of vaccines or negative tests to woo back fans

Salon.com: Fans of the band Wilco could have reasonably interpreted frontman Jeff Tweedy singing "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" at an Aug. 13 concert at St. Louis Music Park as the universe explaining the past year or so.

I hope that changes like this are a lesson to people who are voluntarily choosing not to get vaccinated. If you choose not to do your part to protect yourself AND those most vulnerable (children and those who are actually medically unable to get vaccinated), your favorite activities will be unavailable to you. Big venues support way too much liability allowing unvaccinated individuals into their large crowds, especially as we transition to vaccinations being the basis of protection rather than masks. Live entertainment took a massive blow when this all started, as did many other industries. If we are to repair the economy and try to overcome a literal pandemic, vaccines and personal responsibility will need to be a priority for everyone. It may be a while before venues are able to fill out seats, given how much trauma this disease has put people through, but hopefully one day things will be sustainable enough to enjoy as normal.
