Las Vegas' Star Trek Experience: Rare Behind-the-Scenes Footage

io9.gizmodo.com: If you visited Las Vegas between January of 1998 and September of 2008, you may have also visited an attraction known as Star Trek: The Experience at the off-strip Hilton Hotel. (It’s now called the Westgate.) It gave Star Trek fans the chance to experience their favorite movies and shows (years before what Galaxy’s Edge did for Star Wars fans) and despite now being closed, you can relive parts of the experience through rare behind-the-scenes videos of the attraction under construction.

This looks SO super neat. I am such a huge fan of amusement park dark rides and the stories behind other rides, so I think stuff like this is so much fun. This would have been a cool thing to revive with the most recent Star Trek movies. Imagine the hoards of middle aged Vegas-goers flocking there for dinner and this attraction. Stuff like this is a perfect example of Las Vegas flair. Also, thinking about this now, I realize that behind the scenes videos of stuff like this were such a huge contributor to my interest in working in entertainment. I remember watching the videos that Sight and Sound made of their backstage processes during productions and just absolutely losing my mind. I also remember being like fourteen years old and stuck on a dark ride at Universal while they turned on the lights to look for someone’s shoe; I could not stop looking around at everything. It is such a fun thing to figure out how they “did the thing.”
