This article really stuck out to me and I chose to comment on it because of all of the job- hunting discussions we have had in class as of late. Obviously, I am very worried with landing a job in an industry that is currently shut down, and I want to make sure that for the few jobs that are available, I will be considered a serious candidate. Reading about the ATS and how software is being used to read and filter resumes from applicants, it is frustrating and worrisome that even good resumes are being rejected before ever hitting a human eye. But, the important take away for those hunting for a job is this :” All parsers can parse a simple plain resume with minimal formatting. What use is the most beautifully designed resume if the parser knocks it out before anybody sees it?” As David B. says, a resume should be clean, precise and easy to read. If a machine is reading your resume before a human ever does, it is important not to get caught in a programming error of the AST and you can do this by carefully editing your resume.
