DcSoundOp Video: What's In Your Kit, Theatre Pro Audio Edition
ProSoundWeb: In this episode from PSW video partner DCSoundOp in the What’s in Your Kit Series, we’re joined by theatre audio technician Nicholas Von Hagel, who shows us a packed tool kit with lots of unique gear that helps him stay prepared for almost anything that can come up in the course of a rehearsal or performance.

Any time I get to see or read about someone's personal toolbag I am always intrigued. The reason any of us carry what we do really comes down to experience, so for someone relatively young in the industry it can be invaluable to hear from someone who has been doing this for many years. When it comes to sound, I am in no way prepared to commission a system for a local high school or for a band at a bar, nor do I see myself doing that any time soon. Nevertheless, there are still many things that an audio crew member may keep on them that would be valuable to a scenery member. Just going through this video, I added a reading light and two flashlights to my tool wishlist since they would be useful regardless of department. Other things like adapters and mic tape are just handy to have around because everyone always seems to be in need of them. As David knows, I carry an HDMI cable and MiniDP adapter for presentations or just to connect to a projector. Even though it was 'geeky', having some of these non-scenery tools can be helpful.
