Adam Savage's One Day Builds: How To Build a Box!

Tested: One of Adam's favorite things to build are boxes to store and celebrate the objects and artifacts he collects in his workshop. Today, he walks you through how to build a simple box of your own in his distinctive style, in this case to house a pair of Apollo spacesuit glove replicas.

Here it is! The weekly Tested video from Adam Savage that we all look forward to. Honestly, these are some of the coolest videos on the internet for some weeks. This one is much less interesting than usual, but I think it is actually pretty useful. He goes over how to make a simple box, but I think it is something that is very necessary to know how to do. The box that he made has metal pieces in the corner and latches so that things can be stored inside. This wooden box can be used for so many different applications in our world. I can see this being used to store cable or lighting accessories, hardware, or maybe even some tools. It is a very simple design, but I think it could be very useful in any situation, even in the home. It also gives people stuck at home something to do. People can purchase some wood at their essential home depot and make something useful during their quarantine.

Adam Savage’s Tested videos will always be at the top of my favorite things to watch. I love the way he thinks and how he explains everything so passionately. His one day builds are some of the most interesting and informative videos out there as well. Building a box is something pretty straightforward and simple, sure, but it does cover a lot of basics of woodworking and is a good project to keep your hands busy. Since I have a pretty decent carpentry shop in my basement, I may make a box for my next project, who knows. Something I liked about watching his video is the respect he has for the tools he’s using and how he’s careful with his power tools. [I’ve had too much experience with people that don’t understand or care about the inherent dangers or value of them]. I also really liked the little corner pieces he added to it at the end. They really give the box a simple finishing touch.
